This week on Heritage Bible Radio, Pastor Jim Harris is teaching from the book of Revelation, 2:12-17. This is the letter that Jesus dictated to the apostle John to be delivered to the church at Pergamos, the third of seven letters addressed to seven churches that comprise chapters two and three of Revelation. Now, this was generally a faithful church, performing well in a wicked city, described by Jesus as the place where Satan’s throne is. But despite that, there was a problem in this church serious enough that Jesus threatened that he would come and make war with them if they didn’t repent. What could be so serious? Well, there were some in that church that held and taught bad doctrine. For those who want to downplay the importance of accurate Biblical doctrine these days, this should serve as a wakeup call: doctrine matters. Jesus doesn’t tolerate false doctrine in His church.
