Episode Summary
This week on Heritage Bible Radio, we’ll join Pastor Jim Harris as he concludes the third chapter of Revelation with verses 14-22. Chapters 2 and 3 are comprised of seven letters to seven churches that Jesus dictated to the apostle John. Those letters have followed the general pattern of introducing Jesus, commending the church on what it’s doing well, and warning the church about consequences should they fail to repent for any sinful failures. Now, this week is all about the last of these letters, this one addressed to the church at Laodicea.
What do you think you would do if your pastor got up on Sunday and said, “Beloved, today I have to read a letter addressed to the church leaders and the entire congregation. We felt it was important to read it to you immediately since it’s written to us by Jesus himself. It starts, ‘Dear church, this is Jesus, sitting on my throne, in whose hands your eternity rests. I’ve been watching you. The bottom line: you make me sick.'” Now that would open some eyes and ears. Let’s make sure we’re not doing whatever this church was doing to earn such an assessment.
