Episode Summary
This week on Heritage Bible Radio, we continue in our study of the book of Revelation. Pastor Jim will start chapter 3 this week, and this is the second chapter dedicated to seven letters that Jesus commanded the apostle John to write down and send to seven named churches. Now as we have seen, Jesus’ pattern is to commend each church where they’re doing well, but also to warn them of the consequences they will suffer if they don’t repent and correct serious issues of unfaithfulness. This week’s chapter is addressed to the church at Sardis. Most of the people who made up this church had apparently fallen asleep in doing faithful work of the church. Only a few had remained faithful and obedient in doing the church’s work. To the rest, Jesus issued a severe warning and a command to repent lest they prove themselves to be false professors of Christ, but not genuine Christians.
