Are you a FOOL for Jesus?

1 Corinthians 3:18a-19 says, "If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness if God's sight.

Do you rest in the wisdom of the world? Or, are you, like me, aching to receive the gift of wisdom of the Spirit, the ability to discern falsehood in those claiming to preach truth?

"We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12

Are you a FOOL for Jesus? Are you wise in HIM? Can you claim His glory and grace? Now, more than ever, it seems we are called to be "foolish". Become a FOOL! We hear daily the promises of our leaders, our co-workers, even our spouses and friends. Do we rely on those promises more than the promises of He who created us? Are we immersing ourselves in truth or TRUTH?

I pray brothers and sisters in Christ, that you are abiding in His Word. The TRUTH that we know we can claim with resounding conviction. Open your bibles friends! It's so exciting! Pray for wisdom and clarity. Embrace his Word. Rest in it. Find comfort in it. Most importantly, find wisdom and knowledge in the Spirit. It awaits you there..not in the voices you hear in the media, or read in the paper..or hear in the line at the grocery store.

Be a "FOOL"! Let go of the wisdom of this world! The race is on!

I pray that you will find peace and comfort in the pages of your bible. I welcome and challenge all you who read this to find time in your day to pull away from the distractions of the world. TO BE A FOOL FOR JESUS!!!

Blessings, Kim

The Law has been nailed to the cross!

Thank God for Jesus!  Emmanuel!  God with us!  Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Do you believe that?  Do you really believe that God is with us?  Then do it!  That's right, go ahead and do it.  Live, work and play in Him.  Think about that...Live, work and play in Him!  You can rest in what God has done and is currently doing in your life and mine.  It is because God is with us that we can truly live free in Christ.  God the Father not only reached down to us, He became one of us.  That's right...one of us.  He bore the wrath of the Father on the cross and then...then he conquered the grave.  He rose from the dead to give us life.  Amazing!  All of this to give us life.  God is faithful and He has and is fulfilling His promise of being with us now and forever!  By the power of the resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit, Jesus did not abolish the law, but fulfilled it!  Yahoooooo!  This is the good news of Jesus Christ.  Rejoice!

So why then do we keep shoving the law down the throats of people; especially our own?  I have an idea of why we do this, but I'd rather focus on Jesus.  I'd rather live fully in the hope of Jesus Christ and move forward in him.  The last I check scripture clearly tell us that the Christian life of grace by faith is about a relationship with Christ, not about rules and not about ritualistic observances. The imperative is to abide and remain in Him; read John 15:4-5.

The Ten Commandments were part of the Law of Moses, which incorporated 613 commandments in total.  That's a lot of rules.  Don't misunderstand me, the law is very much needed.  The law seperates.  The law convicts.  But even more magnificent than that is God's love for us.  Again, thank God for Jesus!  Know Him and share Him with the world.  The law is certainly part of God’s perfect plan, but come on already…the law has been nailed to the cross; read Colossians 2:13-14.  I’m surprised by how often I hear my fellow brothers and sisters; including myself, use the law to “persuade” others into our way of thinking or understanding and not God's way.  Ouch!  Talk about breaking the law.  I fear God and pray for His will in my life, not mine.  And that my friend is a difficult prayer indeed.  I wish it wasn't but it often is.  It is even worse when I hear of how the law of God is used to elevate ourselves above others; as if we were not guilty of breaking any laws.  Whoa!  There is another law broken like a weak dry and brittle bone.  Snap!

There have been recent discussions with friends around the radio station about this way of thinking and its familarity to the parable Jesus described in the story of the prodigal son and his older "righteous" brother.  The discussions we've had reagarding the parable of the prodigal son has got me thinking.  Thinking about about God's will for us.  Therefore, I am encouraged to urge you on in the spirit by the following excerpts from scripture.  Please take a deep breath and read the following scripture and be socked by the Holy Spirit ~ the time is now.  Read on and have eyes to see and ears to hear what God is saying to you.  If you feel compelled to share this good news with others, please do so.  Also, if you'd like to know more or further the discussions of the law feel free to leave a comment on this page or shoot us email an at info@myfamilyradio.com.

God with us!

  • The New Testament says that no-one will be justified by observing the Law

Galatians 2:16         “…a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.”

  • Even the apostle Paul said that he could not keep the Ten Commandments.

Romans 7:7-8         “What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, ‘Do not covet.’ But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead.”

  • Christians are not under the Law

Romans 6:14          “For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.”

  • The Law has been nailed to the cross

Colossians 2:13-14 “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross.”

  • Christians live under a higher law – the command to love one another

John 13:34-35        “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

James 2:8-10          “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.  But if you should show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.  For whoever keeps the law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking it all!”

Praise be to Jesus!  And all of God’s people said, “Amen!”

Living for Jesus is just too hard...???

altI can guess that many of you are wondering where I might be going with a title like the one above.  Some of you, however, may be in full agreement with it.  Others still, are perplexed with the fact that a Christian radio station would post such a thing.

Well… we have.  Lord willing, we will continue to post such things as long as there are broken hearts, fallen tears and lives that sometimes are just plain tired; tired of working and never feeling like they are getting anywhere, tired of the false accusations and bewildering psycho-babble, tired of being pushed around, tired of feeling used, abused, rejected and confused.

If you are waiting to read a Sunday school answer from me you’ll be waiting for a long time.  Life is hard and sometimes really painful.  Sometimes that pain can last a short time or a long time.  It is often suggested that we need to turn that frown upside down and live with a positive attitude.  We are told by caring people that life is what you make it and all you need to do is start living life how you want it to be.  Capture the vision, read a self help book, subscribe to Success magazine, and watch your life change right before your eyes.  That’s interesting to me because the more I read from God’s word, the more I’m seeing it’s not really what you want, rather it’s what God wants.  Are you subjecting your will to the Father or to your desires?  God knows the desires of your heart.  He knows what you really think and how you really feel.  Jesus said in John 4:24, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”  Truth is apparently really important to God and He welcomes your honesty.  But for many, we get stuck, we don’t really know even our own truth about things because we keep hearing other people tell us what we should or should not do, think or feel.  In Psalms 118:8 God tell us “It is better to take refuge in the Lord  than to trust in man.”

Years ago I was asked by an instructor of mine what it was I wanted after completing a Biblical Studies program.  I responded by saying that I wanted to have a ministry like Jesus’.  My teacher smiled, put his hand on my shoulder and said, “So you want your Dad to hang you on a cross three years into your ministry?”  Needless to say my jaw dropped and my heart was crushed.  The spirit convicted me right then with the thought of really not knowing God’s will for my life.

Dallas Willard, in his book, The Divine Conspiracy argues compellingly for the relevance of God to every aspect of our existence. Willard helps the reader to explore a radical way to experience God--by knowing Him as an indispensable part of the here and now, rather than only as a “life after death” user product.  Willard goes on to write,  "The most telling thing about the contemporary Christian is that he or she has no compelling sense that understanding of and conformity with the clear teachings of Christ is of any vital importance to [their] life, and certainly not that it is in any way essential . . . Such obedience is regarded as just out of the question or impossible." Christians, he says, for the most part consider the primary function of Christianity to be admittance to heaven. But, as Willard clearly shows, a faith that guarantees a satisfactory afterlife, yet has absolutely no impact on life in the here and now, is nothing more than "consumer Christianity" and "bumper-sticker faith."

Willard refutes this "fire escape" mentality by exploring the true nature of the teachings of Jesus, who intended that His followers become His disciples, and taught that we have access now to the life we are only too eager to relegate to the hereafter. The author calls us into a more authentic faith and offers a practical plan by which we can become Christ-like. He challenges us to step aside from the politics and pieties of contemporary Christian practice and inspires us to reject the all too common lukewarm faith of our times by embracing the true meaning of Christian discipleship.

So that being said, be a disciple of Christ.  Pray for a person that you can come alongside with and grow together in what Jesus really taught, what he really said and how he wants you to really live, whether it’s easy or hard.  Don’t buy into the moral law of “shoulds” and “should nots” just so you can make it into heaven because there is nothing you or I can do to warrant Gods acceptance of us by our own merits.  It’s Jesus all the way!  He is the only way and many times, the way if filled with trials, tribulations, ups and downs, beautiful valleys and High Mountain tops.  To follow Jesus is hard at times and many times it feels too hard, but let me try to encourage you by offering what Jesus said to a bunch of sleepy disciples in Matthew 26:46, “Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand.”  Christ did not propose to flee or hide, but went out to meet the foe.

Lets rise and go!  Step out and share your concerns with a trusted partner.  Step out and share your joy and love for Jesus with the world.  Step out of the boat and know that God has great plans for you.  He loves you and is concerned more about your allowing Him to lead your life than any thing else.  Trust Him despite feelings of it being too hard and please know we at Inspirational Family Radio are here to encourage you, pray for you and lift you up.  Check out our Church resource page on www.941thevoice.com to plug into an active Bible teaching church, if you are not in one already.

God Bless you and continue the journey in knowing Jesus; brining his kingdom to the here and now, by the grace of God, may all we do glorify Him.

God's Purpose or Mine?

Posted by: The Voice

Tagged in: Untagged

What is your vision of God's purpose for you?  In "My Upmost for My Highest" Oswald Chambers wrote, "His purpose is for me to depend on Him and on His power now."  Many times God places circumstances and situations for us to do just that; depend on Him...now!  Ozzy continues to write, "If I can stay calm, faithful and unconfused while in the middle of the turmoil of life, the goal of the purpose of God is being accomplished in me.  God is not working toward a particular finish - His purpose is the process itself."

We've experienced amazing miracles, heavenly affirmations and great things of God, especailly here at the studios of Inspirational Family Radio (IFR), but often the greatest of these is the simply the humility of true love in prayer.

We pray everyday at the IFR studios.  We pray for you - our listeners (the lost and the saved) and for the many wonderful churches in the Treasure Valley.  We also pray for various ministries, our advertisers, clients and for the programming we air.  But the greatest prayer we pray is for God's purpose in us.

We've had some amazing prayer times at the studios of IFR.  So often we pray for .... well, things.  Things like health, resources, safety, strength, courage, and the list goes on and on.  These things are not, in and of themselves, bad.  These things are a part of how we live in this world.  However, that's just it ... in this world.

Today, however, during our daily prayer time at IFR something happened.  We prayed like I have never experienced before ... although it was similar to other prayer times, something was very different.  God's spirit was so strong and wonderful.  We humbly prayed for God's purpose in us and in this world.  "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." - Matt. 6:10

Since that prayer time the world looks incredibly different.  There is a calming Holy spirit that has come over me and I think all of us at IFR.  I think it is God's purpose as we abide in Him and give all the glory to God the Father.

Who or what purpose are you praying for?
