Episode Summary
This week on Heritage Bible Radio, Pastor Jim Harris is teaching from the book of Revelation, finishing up chapter 2 with verses 18-29. This is the fourth letter Jesus dictated to the apostle John to be delivered to one of seven churches. This time it’s the church at Thyatira, where, once again, Jesus addresses a serious issue. Let us ask a question: when should you exercise tolerance? Now if you listen to the culture today, the answer is pretty much always and for everything. Except, of course, we can’t tolerate the intolerance of those who actually have some convictions. But, the better question would be, when does Jesus say we should exercise tolerance? And then, are there conditions when Jesus says we should be intolerant? Now we would wager that if we were to ask that question in a national survey of professing Christians, most would answer no, we must always be tolerant. But hold on–Jesus was critical of the church at Thyatira precisely because they were tolerant in a situation Jesus expected them to be intolerant. Now there’s an important lesson there. You should understand what that lesson is as you listen in to this week’s sermon.
Heritage Bible Radio is a Ministry of Heritage Bible Church where Jim Harris is the teaching pastor. You can join Jim each weekday at 4 am, 8:30 am, and on Sunday at 7:15 am. Every day Jim works to devote his radio time to some portion of the Word of God so you can know God and serve him better.
